Position and Responsibilities
As a part of the SHEQ team, you will be a subject matter expert for the analytical chemistry lab in areas such as lab instrumentation, process sample and product certification analytical techniques, and fluorine chemistry. You will work with a team to optimize lab instrumentation performance and availability, maintain current methods, develop new methods and review all analytical methods and ASTM nuclear standards as they pertain to the business. You will also provide training and subject matter expertise and support to the analytical technical staff, operations personnel and external customers for projects, investigations, and interpretation of data.
Education and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Science or engineering degree
- Quality assurance program oversight experience
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in an industrial/ commercial lab
- Inorganic and/or environmental analysis methods knowledge and application
- Analytical procedure creation, training out and auditing experience.
- Laboratory information management system(s) experience
- Possess a strong understanding of PC based computer software
- Strong interpersonal skills working with all levels within an organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, attentive to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Assets:
- Chemistry degree or chemical engineering degree or materials and metallurgical engineering degree
- ISO 17025 or similar quality assurance program experience
- ICP-MS, GC-MS, IC instrumentation operation knowledge/experience
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- SAP (ERP system)
- Experience in a chemical, mining, petrochemical or nuclear operations
