About Us
McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
The McArthur River radiation team is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of employees at site by identifying radiation risks and mitigating those risks for successful production. The radiation coordinator is responsible for providing guidance and direction for radiation protection activities and program development to ensure the safety and protection of employees at site. The radiation coordinator will lead and supervise the radiation team ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will:
- Provide leadership and direction to the radiation program
- Develop and refine programs to meet regulatory requirements
- Identify and implement enhancements to improve work procedures and processes by keeping abreast of industry best practices and evolving requirements from regulators
- Provide direction for departmental initiatives
- Participate in regulatory inspections and compliance audits
- Regulatory reporting to ensure compliance for the radiation protection programs at site
- Respond to incidents, conduct audits and inspections, providing guidance and input to the development of corrective actions
Required:
- Radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or a post-secondary education in a science related field
- Five to eight years of applicable work experience with radiation protection principles
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Experience managing a team
- Work independently and as part of team with safety as a core value
- Excellent problem solving, leadership and communication skills
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Experience with CamRad, CIRS, LISN, Microsoft Office
- Radiation Safety Officer Level 1 (RSO-1) certification
- Underground mining experience, specifically at a uranium mine site
- Experience as a member of the Occupational Health Committee (OHC)
