About Us
Rabbit Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, produced over 200 million pounds of uranium concentrate from 1975 through 2016 and is currently in a safe state of care and maintenance. The uranium mined and milled at Rabbit Lake has been used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
Cameco is seeking an experienced environmental professional to join the Rabbit Lake team in support of delivery on the site’s environmental protection program commitments. Within the role you will have primary responsibility for monitoring program activities, including: planning, collecting and submitting environmental monitoring samples and completion of required inspections; review, analysis and management of environmental data; and reporting of results in support of the sites compliance obligations. You will also help to ensure conformance of site processes and activities to the environmental management system, development and promotion of continual environmental performance initiatives and delivery of related training. Additional aspects of the role include provision of support for the development and execution of environmental studies and involvement in technical projects, including progressive reclamation programs.
In this role, you will:
- Aid in the coordination and direct completion of quarterly, monthly, and ad-hoc sampling and reporting
- Act as reviewer on technical environmental reports and study designs
- Assist in the coordination of environmental studies and related field activities as required
- Be responsible for day-to-day management of the environmental monitoring and inspection and related field activities, and supervision of environment technicians
Required:
- Post-secondary degree in a science related field or a diploma with equivalent experience
- Five to eight years of applicable work experience with environmental monitoring and protection principles
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Willing to work a 14-day rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- Valid government issued drivers licence and experience operating ATVs, snowmobiles and motorized watercraft (Pleasure Craft Operator certificate required)
- Comfortable working in remote conditions and performing environmental field sampling activities year-round
Recommended:
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and database applications such as EQuiS
- Previous emergency response/mine rescue experience or desire to become a member of the site emergency response team
- Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for wildlife management purposes

schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in
Saskatchewan.
