Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
The Stress Analysis Section of the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department is currently growing to respond to the needs of our nuclear portfolio including OPG, Bruce Power, New Brunswick Power and Cernavoda, among others. We are looking for highly motivated engineers to:
- Perform Mechanical engineering analysis for CANDU nuclear power stations and new builds including Small Modular Reactors.
- Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
- A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
- A minimum 3 years of relevant experience is required
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards including but not limited to CSA N285, ASME Section III, Section VIII and B31.1. ASME Section III Appendix XXIII qualification is considered an asset.
- Experience in the use of piping software such as CAESAR II, AutoPipe, PipeStress
- Experience with FEA software such as ANSYS and ABAQUS.
- Experience in Classical Stress Calculation
- Knowledge of design and analysis reactor component including Class 1 component qualification
- Candidates are expected to have or to pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation.
- Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of station customers.
