What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Reporting to the responsible Technical Services Manager, this role will provide high precision measurements of dimensional features and associated reporting for the off-site fabrication of steel components for the project.
What You'll Do Here:
- Reviews fabrication drawings and specifications to understand dimensional features and tolerances for planned fabrications.
- Reviews and follow work instructions and technique sheets related to measurement procedures for fabricated components.
- Operates and maintains laser tracker systems utilized in the feature measurement of fabricated components.
- Measures components for conformance to dimensional tolerances utilizing laser tracker, probes, gauges and other required tooling or measurement devices.
- Generates and distribute timely reports on the status of component’s geometry dimensions and conformance.
- Attends shift planning meetings to understand the fabrication throughput plan and reporting requirements for the shift.
- Ensures adherence to project data management and reporting procedures for all assigned work.
- General administration and reporting of daily activities.
- Perform shop walks to check fabrication progress to anticipate and plan upcoming measurement activities.
- Participate in Job Hazard assessments and shop safety inspections.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
- Other tasks as required or assigned.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a fabrication, machining or a mechanical technology role.
- Capable of reading and understanding fabrication drawings and specifications
- Experience utilizing inspection tools or laser trackers is an asset
- Strong computer skills with experience in use of AutoCAD, Inventor or other 3D modeling software
- Competent In Microsoft office applications and basic computing and network configurations.
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds and climb ladders, if required.
- Must be able to perform effectively in an environment with elevated noise levels, while strictly adhering to all relevant safety standards and protocols.
- Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
- Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
