Position and Responsibilities
As a member of the design engineering team, you are responsible for the inspection and integrity of safety related pressure retaining components essential to the safe operation of the facility ensuring the health and safety of employees as well as protection of the environment. You are responsible for material recommendations, CAN/CGSB 48.9712 related non-destructive examinations, as well as inspection of lifting devices, fall protection equipment, and receipt inspection of equipment. You are responsible for welding procedure qualifications, specifications and designated as the welding supervisor for the purposes of ASME Section IX, QG-106. You also act as a liaison with regulators such as the CNSC and TSSA.
You oversee development, planning, scheduling and supervision of the NDE technicians and implementation of the inspection activities including recommendations arising from these activities.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Licensed professional engineer in the province of Ontario
- Minimum of five years of experience
- Superior people and problem solving skills
- Committed to continuous improvement
- Knowledge of applicable ASME, CWB, TSSA and CSA regulations and standards
Assets:
- CGSB 48.7912 certification in radiography, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic inspection methods
- Failure analysis experience
• Knowledge of welding fundamentals and inspections
