We are seeking an Advanced Reactive Transport Modeler to join our Global Minerals & Metals (M&M) team and to support our growth to align with the demand to supply responsibly sourced critical minerals. The Environmental Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of environmental professionals and engineers and will be involved in a small- and large-scale projects across the country and internationally. The work will include environmental site assessment, remediation, water treatment, risk management and waste management associated with development, operations, decommissioning, closure, and monitoring at mining and metallurgical sites.
This opportunity will be to support the M&M business located in any of the major cities of Canada: Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary.
Your role within the team:
- Develop and implement advanced reactive transport models to simulate geochemical processes in mining contexts.
- Analyze and interpret complex data sets to inform model development and validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists, to integrate modeling results into practical applications.
- Lead field studies and laboratory experiments to gather data for model calibration and validation.
- Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, and publications to communicate findings to stakeholders and the scientific community.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in hydrological, hydrogeological and geochemical modeling and apply innovative techniques to improve model accuracy and efficiency.
- Support and/or lead the development of coupled climatological, hydrological, hydrogeological and geochemical models to identify potential impacts of climate change on watersheds and mitigations including CO2 sequestration for various sectors.

The ideal candidate:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Geochemistry, Environmental Science, Geological Engineering, or a related field, with 5-10 years of applied experience in reactive transport modeling and geochemical processes.
- Relevant professional designation (P.Geo., P.Eng.) or eligibility status in Canada.
- Proven expertise in numerical modeling techniques including Finite Element Methods, Finite Volume Methods, Finite Difference Methods, Moving Boundary Simulations, and Geochemical Reactive Transport of contaminants in subsurface environments.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated experience in handling large, complex datasets and applying geochemical modeling tools such as PHREEQC, TOUGHREACT, or similar.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively present and explain technical information to multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $93,400 - $128,400 annually) (Only Applicable to British Columbia). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
