The Role
Cameco is looking for a passionate professional to lead the safety and radiation functions at the Cigar Lake operation. You will support the health function that is manged through the corporate office. Reporting to the Manager, SHEQ, you will work with various stakeholders across the site and the mining division to promote compliance and continuous improvement of Cameco’s programs and policies.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a team of professionals to ensure the safety, health, and radiation programs are implemented effectively by having an active presence in the workplace and being aware of, responding to, and identifying risks
- Champion the site field leadership program and ensure the emergency response program is operational as per provincial and federal requirements
- Responsible for ensuring regulatory and internal compliance of SHEQ programs and will coordinate with other departments to ensure timely response and implementation to regulatory inquiries or inspection results
- Corporate and regulatory program implementation and managing updates with site departments, short and long-term contracting groups, and corporate personnel Ensure your teams are active in the field and are providing support and coaching were required. You will also coach and develop supervisors and team members to improve overall team effectiveness.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field
- Ten years of experience in SHEQ functional roles with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Experience in the mining and/or nuclear industry
- Fire protection engineering or experience with fire protection systems
- Proficient in Saskatchewan OHS and Mines Regulations
- Proficient in radiation legislation and its application in the context of uranium mining
- Experience overseeing a health management, safety and/or radiation protection program
- Emergency response and mine rescue certified
- Experience leading a mine rescue program
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Emergency response and mine rescue instructor certified
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional
- Familiarity with multiple SHEQ functions
- ICS 100
