AtkinsRealis is looking for Junior, Intermediate and Senior Designers with experience in mechanical drafting and design to be a part of our team in supporting the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation and refurbishment of existing CANDU nuclear power plants.
Location – Buenos Aires, Argentina
Your role within the team:
- Use software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, Smart 3D, Solid Edge/Solid Works and/or Solid Professor to create or revise mechanical drawings;
- Producing mechanical drawings for various stages of engineering design (conceptual, preliminary & detailed design);
- Creating Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&ID) and isometrics;
- Producing drawings and layouts for piping/tubing, ducting, equipment, fire-protection, as well as mechanical supports (cable trays, support structures) etc.;
- Generating various lists (line list, valve list, equipment list etc.) & BOMs from the required software;
- Providing estimates to complete drafting work;
- Independently checking and updating drawings of facilities;
- Software application packages Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Windows

The ideal candidate:
- University Degree in the relevant field or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 1, 5 or 10 years (Jr., Intermediate and Sr. positions, respectively) in mechanical design and drafting.
- Deep and thorough understanding of structural drafting gained through a combination of design-office and site experience;
- Working knowledge of Microstation, AutoCAD, SolidWords/Solid Edge, Solid Professor and Smart3D;
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office suite of softwares;
- Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures and practices is preferable;
- Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; Engineering Change Control process or similar is an asset;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
- Must undertake assigned draft work independently;
- Must be willing to work in multiple tasks/projects;
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and analytical aptitude;
- Must have experience in working in a project environment;
- Must be willing to work at field on assignment;
- Must have good skills in time management and setting priorities;
- Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills;
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment;
- Ability to work in an ever-changing environment with conflicting priorities;
- Ability to manage to work effectively under tight schedules and budget.
