Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? As the Waste Advisory Supervisor, you will oversee a dedicated team of Waste Advisors within Waste Process & Data Services (WPDS). Your mission is to ensure the team's daily operations run smoothly and safely. You'll provide essential technical guidance and support to the WPDS staff, while coordinating assignments and prioritizing tasks to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
What will you be doing!
- Identifying and recommending improvements to any CNL-wide procedures that affects area.
- Collaborating with others in the development of changes to work procedures utilizing innovative approaches.
- Encouraging innovation among others.
- Responding to situations to contain/ mitigate short term risk in accordance with established processes, procedures and guidelines.
- Ensuring that employees across the team are fully aware of emergency response processes and ensuring that safety standards are followed.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Relevant technical college/university diplomas, and three to five (3-5) years of Waste Management experience. OR
- Equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience, with an emphasis on operations will be an asset.
- Experience:
- Knowledge of standard waste processes, waste packaging and waste management operational practices.
- Ability to teach generators how to reduce waste and dispose of it properly.
- Experience in training staff on proper waste management procedures.
- Familiarity with radioactive waste characterization principles and technology would be an asset.
- Familiarity and training in proper hazardous and mixed waste handling and operations would be an asset.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Lead and motivate a team to achieve waste management goals.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
- Manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently.
- Identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints professionally.
- Analyze data and generate reports for management.
- Demonstrate proficiency with relevant software and tools used in waste management.
- Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Ensure all processes and documentation are accurate and up to date.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration skills to work effectively with other departments and teams.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
