Arnprior Plant Manager
We are currently seeking a Plant Manager to lead and support our Arnprior Tubing Operation team.
The Plant Manager will lead the Arnprior Tubing Plant in achieving strategic business goals, driving operational excellence across production, quality, safety, financials, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role leverages extensive experience overseeing critical programs and processes to resolve complex issues, develop strategic objectives, and drive both short-term and long-term success. A key responsibility is fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all operational areas.
Reporting directly to the Director of Fuel Operations, the Plant Manager oversees the Production Supervisor, Process Engineering, and Maintenance teams, with dotted-line accountability for EHS and Quality functions. This role engages with a broad audience, including union representatives, internal and external customers, and key stakeholders within Arnprior Tubing operations.
Specific responsibilities and accountabilities include:
- Environmental Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety and environmental regulations and internal requirements.
- Lead site security.
- Quality Assurance:
- Maintain high standards for product quality, meeting customer specifications and audit compliance.
- Oversee and enhance the Arnprior Quality Management System for continuous improvement in quality standards.
- Overall accountability for all audit programs and continuous improvement in quality standards.
- Operational Delivery:
- Develop production line manufacturing plans that align with annual budget objectives.
- Meet master schedule requirements and ensure seamless operations to support customer needs.
- Financial Management:
- Drive financial performance through effective forecasting, budget management, and cost control.
- People Development:
- Support employee growth and development through goal setting, performance management, and succession planning.
- Foster strong union-management relationships, promote cross-functional collaboration, and partner with HR to foster a high-performance work culture.
- Engineering & Process Improvement:
- Drive process engineering to identify and address production bottlenecks and implement process enhancements.
- Support capital equipment investments to enhance productivity.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement through 5-S, visual workplace tools and Cap/Ex projects.
- Business Development:
- Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for growth, including expanding the client base, bringing in additional work, and enhancing product offerings.
- Supply Chain Management:
- Manage and optimize the entire supply chain for the fuel business, including procurement and logistics.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 4 years of direct manufacturing supervision or leadership experience, with a proven record of operational excellence.
- 10+ years working in a manufacturing environment including roles with responsibility for safety, compliance, and team management.
- Understanding of manufacturing principals and how each department supports and interacts with each other.
- Strong leadership skills with an emphasis on clear directions and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills, highly organized, strong work ethic and computer literate.
- Experience managing or collaborating with teams in a unionized environment, including knowledge of labour relations, collective bargaining agreements, and grievance handling.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by setting performance goals, monitoring progress, and providing support to meet and exceed targets. Leverage data and feedback to make informed decisions that elevate the team’s organization’s performance.
- Proven experience in managing overall facility operations with accountability for safety, quality, financial performance, and team development. Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence, meeting financial objectives, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $107,000.00 and $156,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
