Position and Responsibilities
Reporting to the sr. coordinator, fire protection, security and emergency services you will provide hands on support to ensure that security, emergency response and fire protection equipment and systems are functional and meet license requirements. Additionally, the officer will assist with the physical work and documentation associated with the site security, fire protection, and emergency service.
Duties include:
- Maintaining security and intrusion detection systems
- Maintaining the site access and control systems
- Ensuring the programming and upgrades of the above systems and providing operator training when required
- Assist in providing security personnel, fire protection program and emergency response team with the training and oversight required to proficiently meet the requirements of the site fire protection program.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements for the position:
- Community college or higher certification in law & security, fire protection or equivalent work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, build trust and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of personnel
- Clear criminal background check
- Willing to commit to training and certification as required by the job
Assets:
- NFPA472 technician level certification, NFPA600 certification
- NFPA1006 high angle technician certification & NFPA1006 confined space rescue certification
- NFPA1403, NFPA1081, NFPA1041, NFPA1033, NFPA 1031
- Knowledge of National Fire Code of Canada and National Building Code of Canada
- Knowledge of CSA N393 Fire Protection for facility that process, handle, or store nuclear substances
- First Aid & CPR
- Familiar with Canada Labour Code
- Drone License
