Health Physicist

We are looking for numerous operational Health Physicists for CANDU reactor refurbishment projects nationally and/or internationally. This would be an excellent role for an experienced operational Health Physicist with CANDU reactor refurbishment experience looking to use their knowledge on new projects.
This role will be based in Pickering, ON.
Your role within the team:
- Prepare radioactive work plans to support station refurbishment activities.
- Develop and deliver radiation protection training associated with refurbishment.
- Develop and recommend radiation safety controls for radiological work such as irradiated component removal from the reactor core and radioactive waste processing.
- Perform ALARA planning to support CANDU large scale core component removal and replacement.
- Aiding in radiological emissions assessments.
- Review design descriptions, details and recommend worker dose reduction strategies.
- For worker radiation exposure and dose budgeting purposes develop individual and collective radiation dose projections.
- Perform radiation shielding calculations and develop basic computer models to assess hazard profiles.
- Support client RP program, RP driven assessments and initiatives.
- Integrate with both client and various organization disciplines for client RP program alignment and compliance.

The ideal candidate:
- Undergraduate degree in Health Physics or equivalent qualifications.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an operational health physicist working in CANDU power plants or equivalent nuclear industry.
- Experience in CANDU reactor refurbishment.
- Experience in dealing with a large organization to address broad scope radiation safety needs.
- Experience in applying high radiation safety standards expected in the nuclear power plants.
- Effective communication of the radiation safety compliance requirements to the organization.
- Ability to effectively address worker radiation safety concerns by explaining program application requirements and safety principles.
