Senior Fuel Channel Design Engineer

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.
Your role within the team:
- Documentation - Prepare engineering documentation according to procedures that defines the complete set of requirements required to:
- Establish the complete basis for the fuel channel design, and how requirements are met.
- Record the details and basis for design changes, including assumptions and their validation plans.
- Manufacture fuel channel reactor materials and components.
- Facilitate removal, installation and service/repair of fuel channel items.
- Perform detailed analysis and testing to assess the performance and safety of the fuel channel elements.
- Document review and verifications.
- Design & Analysis:
- Design:
- Envisioning new solution to design challenges or improving existing designs with innovative ideas.
- Defining testing/evaluation criteria to evaluate designs against requirements.
- Refining designs to enhance functionality, efficiency, and nuclear safety.
- Analysis:
- Using mathematical and computational methods to assess the performance and integrity of a design.
- Predicting real-world behaviour using tools to identify potential issues.
- Analyzing results to make data-driven decisions that enhance design integrity and performance.
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Planning:
- Prepare detailed plans, schedules and timelines for the work.
- Properly identify stakeholders, interfaces, successors and predecessors.
- Ensure all participants understand responsibilities, project requirements and commitments.
- Execute effective pre-job briefs before starting any new task.
- Execution:
- Understand and monitor task progress, budget and schedule.
- Complete and on-time reporting and provide timely weekly progress updates.
- Maintain accountability for overall delivery of tasks and owning them through to completion.
- Escalate technical or project related issues and proposed solutions to relevant stakeholders.
- Document lessons learned as applicable.
- Ensure all stakeholders are informed that work has been completed.

Candu 6 retube Reactor department is looking for Senior Fuel Channel Design engineer who meets the following :
Technical requirements:
- Understands the detailed aspects of CANDU fuel channels and have a basic understanding of interfaces.
- Possesses a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including:
- Mechanics and forces.
- Materials.
- Manufacturing processes.
- Engineering design.
- Ability to perform stress, thermal, and structural analysis and calculations.
- Knowledge of industry codes, standards and regulations related to CANDU reactor design.
- A degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.

- Is able to systematically research and collect relevant data and insights from various sources, decompose a problem into manageable pieces, and critically analyze each aspect in detail.
- Utilizes creativity and technical expertise to generate innovative and well-founded recommendations/solutions to address problems.
