General Accountabilities
The Design & Engineering Services Department is currently growing to respond to the needs of our nuclear portfolio including power generation utilities in Canada and Europe. We are looking for a highly motivated Building Information Modelling (BIM) Coordinator to:
- Perform the administration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms which include the following accountabilities:
- Communicate and support the organization wide BIM standards, implementation and enforcement
- Coordinate teams and production and use of model to fit client requirements
- Administer BIM processes necessary for Kinectrics current and future needs
- Plan and organize workshops on BIM initiatives
- Provide BIM training internally
- Support the team with drafting/designing and modeling tasks in the areas of mechanical, civil, electrical, structural and/or architectural design for nuclear power plants and/or similar facilities
- Interface effectively with engineers on multi-disciplinary projects
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise
- Other duties as assigned
Selection Criteria
- Diploma in Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
- Education in the use and set up of BIM Tools.
- At least 5 years of working experience is considered necessary.
- Expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) is required, using the one or more of the following:
- AVEVA products
- Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Autodesk Revit
- Cintoo Cloud
- Experience in one or more specific areas of the following:
Structural design of steel and concrete structures, connections, shop drawings and fabrication detailing
- Piping isometrics, piping modeling, and pipe support design
- Flow diagrams (P&ID & PFDs), and electrical/instrumentation wiring diagrams
- Mechanical details of machine(s) and similar components
- Electrical design of stations, single line and wiring diagrams
- Proficiency in one or more 2D/3D design packages including but not limited to:
- Autodesk Suite: AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Electrical, Raster Design, Revit, Navisworks, Inventor, BIM Collaborate
- AVEVA (PDMS) E3D Design, AVEVA P&ID, AVEVA Enterprise, AVEVA Point Cloud Manager
- SolidWorks, SharePoint, Solid Edge
- CATIA, MicroStation, Intergraph SmartPlant Review, Bentley ProStructures
- Knowledge of using 3D laser scanning equipment while doing field walkdowns and post processing of associated point cloud data to support brown field design projects would be an asset.
- Good understanding of Nuclear Quality Assurance requirements and applicable industry design standards is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, such as CSA, ASME, ASTM, ACI guides is considered an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills and problem-solving skills are required
- Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis
- Ability to train and develop team members in the BIM environments and tools.
- Demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of peers and other team members.
- OPG and Bruce Power Security Clearance is required
