The Position
We’re looking for a Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Lead to support the Canadarm 3 program at our Brampton office.
S&MA is an independent engineering reporting organization within MDA. S&MA is involved in all aspects of the program, including support to proposals, customer and subcontractor contract negotiations, and through all phases of design, development, procurement, assembly, integration, test, qualification, delivery and operational support.
This job requires interaction with internal customers (including MDA program managers, engineering and manufacturing team), external customers (including their program and S&MA personnel), subcontractors and major suppliers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead a small team of S&MA personnel on quality, safety and reliability tasks for one Canadarm3 element or subsystem.
- Chair the Materials Review Board (MRB) driving the investigation and resolution failure of hardware and software non-conformances, including tracking non-conformance status and metrics.
- Participate in design and process reviews to ensure conformance to product and process standards.
- Continuous monitoring and support during manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test (MAI&T) to ensure MDA and Customer technical and quality requirements are met.
- Supervise S&MA activities and resources to ensure completion of required activities within program budget, schedule and quality requirements.
- Early identification of quality requirements and implementation planning.
- Early identification of safety risks, mitigation planning and driving requirements to include safety controls.
- Early identification of technical risk and mitigation planning.
- Serve as customer point of contact for S&MA issues.
- Find process improvements for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics etc.)
- 5-10 years of experience in in an engineering or assurance role are required.
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices related to space or aerospace product development.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering, hardware and software integration, and mission assurance support.
- Knowledge of mission safety/hazard analysis and reliability fundamentals.
- Proven capability to lead a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with effective time management.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and IPC standards an asset.
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
