The Position
We’re looking for a motivated and positive minded Systems Engineer with experience Integrating, Testing, Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA) Electronic Warfare systems in a naval environment to join our cross functional, multi-disciplined team.
Our mission is to turn data into insight. From detecting changes in fragile ecosystems to monitoring northern ice floes and shipping routes, our near-real time data of Earth observation and the environment makes our Geointelligence team a leader in geospatial imagery, ground stations, enterprise geospatial systems and defence programs.
Project Descriptions:
MDA is a key member of the River Class Destroyer (RCD) program and is responsible for the development and integration of the Electronic Warfare (EW) systems as the lead for the EW Integrated Product Team (IPT) within the Combat Systems Integration team led by Lockheed Martin Canada (LMCa).
Position Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated candidate with good communication and people skills, and proven experience supporting the installation and integration testing of EW systems remotely or on customer site. Excellent internal and external communication and leadership skills are necessary in-order-to work closely with the customer, with other technical teams, to obtain support from other MDA staff as needed, and to develop robust, capable, and cost-effective systems and solutions.

As part of the Engineering team, the individual will work with other engineers and suppliers in a multi-disciplinary team environment to create, deliver and maintain engineering solutions.
We are looking are people to be based in our Halifax, NS or Ottawa, ON facility.
Responsibilities:
The systems engineering team is structured to be flexible and able to respond and evolve with the program needs. Responsibilities could include:
- Ability to work independently and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary dispersed team
- Develops relationships with customers, contractors and subcontractors
- Review requirement specifications, interface control documents, design documents and use cases to develop test cases for integration and verification
- Planning, authoring, and executing integration for installation, testing, operation, Set-To-Work (STW), Harbor Acceptance Test (HAT), Sea Acceptance Test (SAT), and Operator and Maintenance Training of EW System
- Creation, updates, review, and design changes and configuration management of technical documentation - test plans, procedures and reports
- Produce engineering artefacts including (but not limited to) Impact Analyses, and technical reports
- Predominantly office work but will be required to be deployed in customers facilities in dockyards and onboard Naval ships
- Identify, characterize, and describe issues in the system through problem reports
- Actively participate in program and test reviews
- Domestic and/or international travel to support program needs
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in integration and testing of complex systems in commercial and/or military domains
- Experience in delivering marine in-service support of operational assets
- Experience with the design and development of Electronic Warfare systems
- Experience maintaining close working relationships with other system engineers and customer representatives in a location distributed environment
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications and customer interaction skills
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of work
Preferred experience and skills:
- Knowledge of advanced antenna technologies and performance
- Familiar with EW hardware architectures
- Previous military/civilian operational experience and deployed experience
- Highly proficient with MS Office applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PPT, Visio)
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as:
- Oscilloscope
- Spectrum analyzer
- Waveform generator
- Experience with laser safety
- Experience with requirement management tools (e.g. DOORS) and test engineering processes and tools (Confluence/Jira)
- Knowledge of agile and/or iterative development methods
- Ability to work with and uphold classified information
Education:
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the NATO SECRET status level (Active clearances are preferred) and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $118,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
