The Position
We’re looking for a motivated and positive minded Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) System Engineer with experience developing and integrating Electronic Warfare systems in a naval environment to join our cross functional, multi-disciplined team.
Our mission is to turn data into insight. Project Description:
MDA is a key member of the River Class Destroyer (RCD) program and is responsible for the Electronic Warfare (EW) systems and integration as the lead for the EW Integrated Product Team (IPT) within the Combat Systems Integration team led by Lockheed Martin Canada (LMCa). The project is looking for motivated and positive minded Integrated Logistic Support System Engineers with experience developing and integrating Electronic Warfare Systems to join our cross functional, multi-disciplined team.
Position Description:
The Integrated Logistics Support Systems Engineer will work as part of a dynamic systems engineering team that will mature the CSC EW system design and support procurement of EW subsystems through all design phases, Factory Acceptance Testing, Integration, Set-to-Work and final acceptance trials.
Excellent internal and external communication are necessary in order to work closely within our distributed team, our customer (LMCa) and their technical teams, our suppliers, and other external stakeholders such as the other Tier 1 Combat Systems team partners, the CSC prime contractor Irving Shipyards, and the CSC end-user CANADA.
The successful candidate will have an aptitude to mature their systems engineering experience, EW systems knowledge, and operational mission awareness. Interest, experience and/or background in the maritime and/or naval domain would be an asset. The successful candidate will be an integral part of an engineering team, under the direction of the Program Engineer, EW IPT Lead, and Systems Engineering Lead.
The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the program’s Product Support Analysis (PSA), ensuring the system meets long-term supportability, maintainability, and availability objectives as defined in contractual and customer requirements.
We are looking are people to be based in either Halifax, NS or Ottawa, On facilities.
Responsibilities:
The systems engineering team is structured to be flexible and able to respond and evolve with the program needs. Responsibilities could include:
- Performs the ILS engineering functions for highly complex systems:
- Leading and executing ILS activities in accordance with TA-STD-0017A or an equivalent standard
- Support the planning and implementation of the Product Support Analysis (PSA) Plan
- Conducting PSA activities including Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), FMECA, MTA, LORA, RCMA, LCC
- Supporting the development and population of the Logistics Support Analysis Record (LSAR) in accordance with GEIA-STD-0007C and customer data exchange requirements
- Perform in process ILS reviews with customers and program management
- Develop ILS, R&M, and Safety documentation including relevant plans, scheduled/corrective maintenance procedures, spare parts lists, and tools & test equipment lists
- Prepare training plans and training curriculum, and present training courses
- Contribute to the development of Technical Manuals and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and S1000D-compliant documentation
- Contribute to the development of the Standard Parts Catalog, and support part selection for product design efforts and obsolescence analyses
- Provide classroom Training and Maintenance Demonstrations On-Site
- Coordinating and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary dispersed team
- Supports cost estimates and presentations to both customers and senior management as necessary
- Develops relationships with customers and contractors
- Actively participate in program reviews
- Domestic and/or international travel to support program needs
Required Experience:
- 5 years of well-structured systems engineering experience.
- 3 years’ experience in large Electronic Systems Development or Integration projects, preferably with Electronic Warfare Systems, and a strong understanding of project execution processes from requirements through commissioning and support.
- Strong communications abilities, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of work
Preferred experience and skills:
- Experience with the design and development of Electronic Warfare systems
- Experience with the design and development of maritime and/or naval systems
- Understanding of Radar and Missile System employment and capabilities
- Understanding of Radar and Laser Warning Receivers, SIGINT sensors and countermeasure systems
- Previous military/civilian operational experience and deployed experience
- Highly proficient with MS Office applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PPT, Visio)
- Experience working with engineering tools such as DOORS, Confluence/Jira and CAMEO
- Knowledge of agile and/or iterative development methods
- Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation Requirements
- Familiarity with PSA with PSA methodologies and tools g. Windchill Risk & Reliability, OmegaPS or GenS Analyzer
- Experience with standards such as GEIA-STD-0007C, TA-STD-0017A, S-series handbooks
- Ability to work with and uphold classified information
- Predominantly office work but will be required to occasionally work in dockyards and onboard Naval ships
Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the NATO SECRET status level (Active clearances are preferred) and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $80,000 - $118,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
