Overview
The Procurement Manager – Commodities & Bulks is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for high-volume materials and bulk commodities. This role will lead a team of buyers, drive cost optimization, ensure supply continuity, and mitigate risks across the supply base. The successful candidate will bring deep market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset to manage complex supplier relationships and deliver value to the organization. A strong drive for cost savings is essential, with a focus on identifying opportunities for efficiency and value creation across both corporate and project procurement activities.
Your role
Project Procurement Responsibilities (SMR Project Focus):
- Project-Specific Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for commodities and bulk materials tailored to the SMR infrastructure project lifecycle.
- Lead sourcing, tendering, and contract award processes for project-specific materials and services.
- Integrate procurement timelines with project schedules (e.g., Primavera P6) to ensure timely availability.
- Supplier Engagement & Performance:
- Identify and qualify suppliers based on project needs and technical specifications.
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure delivery, quality compliance, and responsiveness to project changes.
- Risk & Change Management:
- Identify procurement risks specific to the SMR project and implement mitigation strategies.
- Track and categorize procurement-related changes and support causal analysis for cost overruns.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Utilize project-specific tools (e.g., Power BI dashboards) to monitor procurement performance and milestone adherence.
- Provide insights to project leadership for informed decision-making.
Corporate Interface & Governance:
- Ensure project procurement activities align with corporate procurement policies and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with corporate teams to leverage global buying power and strategic supplier agreements.
- Support governance processes including approvals, reporting, and compliance audits.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred.
- 7+ years of strategic sourcing experience, with a focus on commodities and bulk materials.
- Experience in Nuclear, Oil & Gas, and Construction sectors.
- Knowledge of global commodity markets and logistics.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Proven track record in supplier negotiations, risk mitigation, and team leadership.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in procurement systems and tools.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management abilities.
