Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
Reporting to the supervisor, electrical and instrumentation, the electrician utilizes their trade knowledge to ensure Cigar Lake’s electrical equipment is effectively maintained and fit for service. Electricians may need to work both underground and on surface in this role. The safe, effective efforts of the tradesperson in this role plays an important part in the success of our operation.
In this role, you will:
- Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment in all areas of the operation.
- Work with high voltage switching, overhead power lines, transformers, electrical distribution, and AC/AD variable speed electric drive controllers.
Required:
- valid Saskatchewan or interprovincial journeyperson electrician ticket;
- minimum five years’ related experience in an industrial environment as a journeyperson;
- knowledge and experience with high voltage switch gear and 600 volt systems, solid state equipment (including programmable controllers), and AC and DC variable speed electric motor drive controllers;
- good communication skills;
- excellent safety attitude; and
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
- willingness to work underground;
- experience using SAP-based maintenance applications; and
- high voltage experience.

Safety Sensitive Site
Preference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN).
The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
