Our Chalk River site is currently seeking a Mechanical Maintainer/Hoisting Engineer to join our dedicated team. What will you be doing!
- Performing all hoisting and rigging operations using a variety of hoisting equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, etc.
- Performing routine maintenance.
- Maintaining good housekeeping practices of all work areas, tools and equipment.
- Adhering to provincial, federal and CNL regulations to provide a safe and efficient working environment.
- Attending monthly safety meetings.
- Assisting in the training, coaching and mentoring of apprentices and co-op students in safe workshop practices and procedures, including work planning, assisting and development of skills by demonstrating techniques.
- Monitoring, assessing and correcting work performance. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Secondary school graduation diploma and certificate of qualification as a Hoisting Engineer, typically acquired through the completion of the required 6000-hour apprenticeship.
- Experience
- Experience is not required, but would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must possess a Class G Vehicle License as per the Ministry of Transportation and Communication guidelines.
- Knowledge of hoisting and rigging equipment, such as forklifts, mobile cranes, and stair climbers, to lift and move heavy loads and weights as per customer requirements.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on the machines, such as cleaning, greasing, oiling, and fueling and reporting the need for other repairs or scheduled maintenance.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable programs and standards such as CEC, CSA and ULC codes.
- Written and verbal communication skills to be able to work in multi-trade groups and communicate with CNL staff across a broad range of disciplines.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- This position is part of the IUOE Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the IUOE Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
- Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week. We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day, starting at 6 am.
