Cameco Fuel Manufacturing is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Materials Planning and Logistics Analyst to join our Logistics team in Cobourg. The successful candidate will play a key role in material requirements planning (MRP), ensure accurate tracking and documentation of material shipments against applicable licenses. This position also requires expertise in transportation of dangerous goods, preparation of shipping documentation, and management of import and export processes to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Position and Responsibilities
Located at our CFM Cobourg facility, this position involves the following responsibilities:
Material Requirements Planning (MRP):
- Plan and analyze material requirements based on production schedules, forecasts, and inventory levels to support daily production while avoiding excess inventory.
- Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and production teams to support timely availability of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and trigger reordering actions as required to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Accurately record and track material movements using SAP MRP systems.
Shipping and License Compliance:
- Manage shipments to customers and between facilities, ensuring deliveries align with contractual schedules and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of shipped volumes in alignment with CNSC and GAC licenses and permits, including quantity limits and product specifications.
- Generate and verify shipping documentation including packing lists, bills of lading, shipping requests, certificates of origin, commercial invoices, and dangerous goods declarations.
- Coordinate all customs activities for the import and export of nuclear-controlled goods and information, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG):
- Ensure proper classification, handling, labelling, packaging, storage, and documentation of materials classified as dangerous goods in accordance with TDG Regulations, IATA, IMDG, etc.
- Review and confirm shipment accuracy, including correct UN numbers and adherence to federal and provincial safety requirements.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on material usage, inventory levels, shipping activities, and production.
- Manage the Return to Vendor (RTV) process, including coordinating with suppliers on material returns and credit documentation.
- Support continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, on-time delivery, and cost reduction.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Post‑secondary diploma in logistics, operations, supply chain management, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Four (4) or more years of relevant experience in materials control, inventory management, transportation, or logistics
- Proficiency with computerized systems and databases supporting inventory, planning, or logistics (e.g., MRP systems)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Assets:
- Understanding of transportation and logistics functions, including import/export requirements
- Experience using SAP
- Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG – road, sea, and/or air)
- Supply chain or logistics professional designation (e.g., SCMP, CCLP)
- Experience working in a regulated or industrial environment
- Lift truck certification
