The Role:
Reporting to the Director, Compliance and Security, the Corporate Security Manager, will support MDA Space security initiatives from a corporate and government security compliance perspective. This individual shall be able to demonstrate sound judgement and be able to anticipate risk to projects and timelines when obtaining government security approval when subcontracting services which include personal and physical security requirements specific to the Projects.
Responsible for continuous improvement; demonstrates vision in advancing tools, technology, processes; well integrated in the community to stay abreast of best security practices.
Demonstrate a capability to balance the legal implications of current security requirements to ensure that business continues at all times in conformance with law.
Job Responsbilities:
- Providing leadership, direction, mentoring, and training to a full team of security officers (ACSOs)
- Maintain and evolve a security risk register, including tracking and remediation efforts
- Partner with programs and Cyber Security to prioritize and mitigate security risks across systems and infrastructure for program-specific security requirements
- Prepare various status reports on the evolution of the Government approvals on Security of IT processing, Physical Security, Production etc.;
- Implementing and supporting ongoing recruitment initiatives and onboarding process for new team members in collaboration with TA, Hiring Managers and HR
- Coordinate response activities related to insider threats with various stakeholders, ensure constant monitoring, analysis, remediation and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure MDA Space adheres to all Government security requirements and guidelines set out by the Contracts Security and Controlled Goods Programs.
- In coordination with facility Managers at all business areas, manages the overall security infrastructure, including security cameras, access controls, test and respond to alarms at various sites, and oversee emergency response coordination.
- Continuously assessing security systems and recommending upgrades or improvements as necessary
- Conducting regular site visits to assess security needs and ensure compliance with MDA Space standards and regulatory requirements
- Managing, reviewing and updating all security policies and procedures (Standard Operating Procedures – SOP’s) regularly to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions as needed
- Developing and maintaining a trusted collaboration with Senior Management , ensuring the smooth implementation of all security related investigations, programs and requirements
- Establish and maintain resource lists for required Projects and sensitive areas to ensure all staff are cleared appropriately based on role and “need-to know”;
- Acting as Designated Official under the Controlled Goods Program ensuring adherence to security requirements
- Must undertake responsibilities as Company Security officer (CSO); and
- Other related duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in security, emergency management, law enforcement field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory/management role with a proven track record in leading, managing and mentoring large, diverse teams
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian Contracts Security Program and Controlled Goods Program
- Strong knowledge of security systems, risk assessment, and emergency response planning
- Ability to manage and work in a team oriented environment and with minimum supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal with all levels of the organization and Government Officials.
- Possess good judgement and the ability to handle complex tasks.
- Must be deadline oriented and flexible and be able to work under pressure.
- University or college degree in business administration, law, law enforcement, or public administration or a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

- Familiarity with U.S. or foreign regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR, CUI, NIST, CMMC, NISPOM, GDPR, NATO)
- Knowledge in investigative strategies, conducting sensitive investigations.
Eligible and willing to obtain and maintain government security clearances up to the Top Secret level

The compensation range for this position is $120,000- $140,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
