Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.
The Role
Cameco is looking for an engineering professional to join the Key Lake technical team in supporting surface operations in a mining/milling environment. You will be responsible for maintaining all electrical and instrumentation equipment on site, assisting in safe and reliable production.
In this role, you will:
- Solve complex technical problems using formal techniques to evaluate systems, equipment and failures.
- Maximize equipment availability, reliability and performance through effective problem solving and proactive maintenance practices.
- Develop and refine asset specific strategies to improve equipment health and to prevent or eliminate equipment failure.
- Engage in planning, coordination, and execution of electrical refurbishment work at site.
- Support site capital and expense projects ensuring project deliverables are met in the form of scope, schedule and budget.
Required:
- bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering;
- four to eight years maintaining an industrial plant or relevant experience;
- eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
- knowledge in various aspects of electrical engineering, including high and medium voltage installations, electrical system modelling (ETAP), detailed design, CSA Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and CSA Z463; and
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
- experience in a mining/milling environment;
- licensed Professional Engineer certification (P.Eng.); and
- strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
