What you will do:
In this one-year term role, you will help establish and maintain the program controls needed to support special projects and/or programs within AECL’s science and technology mission, including initiatives that are complex, multidisciplinary, and evolving in maturity.
Reporting to the designated project or program lead, you will work closely with program managers, workstream leads, Finance, corporate support functions, embedded resources, and external contributors. You will maintain integrated and current sources of program information, strengthen reporting discipline, and help project and program leadership and governance forums make informed decisions.
· Build and maintain an integrated program schedule, including milestones, dependencies, critical-path information, and potential schedule impacts.
· Maintain program risk and issue information, monitor mitigation activities, clarify ownership, and support timely escalation and closure.
· Coordinate action and decision tracking, meeting records, reporting calendars, governance materials, and reliable program documentation.
· Monitor program expenditures, forecasts, and variances against approved budgets and plans in collaboration with Finance and program leadership.
· Consolidate workstream information into accurate, concise status materials for program leadership and governance forums.
· Compare information across schedule, budget, risk, issue, action, and performance records to identify gaps, trends, dependencies, or inconsistencies.
· Coordinate program controls information with CNL, consultants, contractors, government partners, and other contributors while respecting established roles and information-handling requirements.
· Support the continued development of practical, sustainable program controls practices that can be applied across special projects and programs within the science and technology portfolio.

· Post-secondary education in project management, business administration, finance, engineering, information management, or another relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
· Experience in project controls, program controls, a project management office, or project coordination.
· Experience maintaining integrated schedules, risks, issues, actions, decisions, budgets, program documentation, or status reports.
· Knowledge of project scheduling, milestone management, dependencies, and critical-path concepts.
· Knowledge of risk and issue management practices, including ownership, mitigation, escalation, and closure.
· Experience consolidating information from multiple contributors and maintaining accurate, current program records.
· Ability to communicate detailed program information clearly, follow up on commitments, identify inconsistencies, and support reliable reporting and governance cycles.
· Strong analytical thinking, planning and organization, accountability, collaboration, adaptability, and critical analysis.

Salary:
The hiring range for this role is between $92,400 and $115,500 based on compensable factors such as qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this role is broader than the hiring range. Employees progress through the salary scale over time in accordance with AECL’s compensation philosophy and procedures.

What you can expect:
· Employment Term: This is a one-year term position.
· Location: This role can be based out of AECL’s Chalk River, Ontario or Ottawa office locations.
· Chalk River Commute: If you are based at AECL’s Chalk River office, personal transportation is required, as there are no local public transit services available.
· Hybrid Work Model: AECL follows a hybrid work approach. On-site presence is required four days per week, Monday to Thursday, to support operational needs and role responsibilities. If based out of the Ottawa office, one day per month will be required at the Chalk River office, and vice versa.
· Security Clearance: The selected candidate must successfully meet Government of Canada security clearance requirements.
