Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Lead a team of engineers and technical specialist to deliver technical solutions to power generation utilities and other customers.
- Support projects which require knowledge of the Engineering Change Control Process for Bruce Power and/or Ontario Power Generation.
- Support the project managers with resourcing the internal and external projects and effectively support to ensure projects are managed effectively (i.e., develop and manage scope, time, cost, performance, safety, communication, human resources, contracts, materials, risks, and quality).
- Accountability for advanced capabilities in the area of Advanced Reactor Design and Technologies such as for Generation IV reactor including, the gas-cooled fast reactor (GFR), the lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR), the molten salt reactor (MSR), the sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR), the supercritical-water-cooled reactor (SCWR) and the very high-temperature reactor (VHTR)], Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Hydrogen technologies, Tritium Removal Facilities (TRFs), Heavy Water Production, and their component systems.
- Take the lead role in consulting with clients and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and enhance Kinectrics business capabilities.
- Interact with a full range of skilled staff (e.g., Design Engineering, Nuclear Safety, Facility Staff, Procurement, and Construction) on highly unique or important matters.
- Proactively and independently identify, investigate, and resolve complex project risks.
- Provide timely and up-to-date project information, to Kinectrics Management, project team, and customer(s) in the form of proposals, reports, recommendations, and presentations.
- Lead the development of new and innovative technical and project solutions and services to support customer needs beyond the scope of past practices or precedent.
- Identify and implement new and innovative solutions to resolve issues and enhance project efficiency while maintaining quality.
- Provide mentorship and work direction to junior Kinectrics staff and review complex work of others for accuracy.
- Assign resources, maintain budgets and schedules associated with projects.
- Prepare bids in answer to clients’ requests for proposals.
- Interface with clients and maintain a client focused culture within the Section.
- Responsible for staffing and resourcing decisions, including scheduling, and assigning work.
- Provide support to Director, Engineering Programs and other Senior Leaders as required.
- Other duties as required.

- Supports Director, Engineering Projects to drive a culture of high performance and safety where everyone is committed to and accountable for delivery of performance goals and operational KPIs, ensuring a customer first culture.
- Provides training and skill development for both day-to-day operations as well as for growth and improved performance.
- Develops a culture of continuous improvement in processes and initiate/monitor corrective actions required to improve performance.
- Creates and maintains a positive culture focused on worker morale and corporate social responsibility.
Financial:
- Ensures business systems are updated and accurate including revenue forecasts.
- Manages and motivates assigned staff and team members, achieving effective utilization of resources and prioritization. Ensure effective facility management, work allocation and safe operations.
- Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual operations budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Supports Director, Engineering Projects with maintaining service line profit and loss, material cost, labour and bottom-line results, budgeting, business planning and reporting as needed.
Health, Safety and Compliance:
- Supports Director, Engineering Projects to drive a culture of Right first time/Safety First and that all scheduling, programming, and monitoring work is conducted in compliance with regulations that apply to the work and customer.
- Ensures quality of investigations to identify corrective action and non-recurrence.
- Accountable supporting error free culture & staff behaviors by implementing human performance tools.
- Leads by example and set high standards for Health & Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture.
Management and Continuous Improvement:
- Ensures that the business strategy is well developed and based on good market and competitor knowledge. The agreed strategy is to be clearly articulated and communicated.
- Develops a business model which drives efficiency into the business.
- Seeks to grow the scope of the product and service enhancements.
- Builds relationships with current and future customers while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Ensures effective project management within service line.
- Drives timely input to invoicing and collections processes.

What You Need to Succeed
- A four-year university degree in Engineering (Nuclear Engineering or Chemical Engineering) and/or equivalent
- Post graduate degree in relevant specialty would be an asset.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience independently leading team of engineers, managing multi-disciplinary projects with significant scope and complexity demonstrating a clear understanding of project methodologies. With clear demonstration of leadership skills and project management qualifications, applicants with lesser experience may be considered for a developmental position.
- Good working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to Nuclear power plants.
- Experience with Advanced Reactors designs such as Generation IV Nuclear Power Reactors, Small Modular Reactors, or other Nuclear Systems/Equipment (such as Fusion Reactors).
- Experience with Heavy Water Facilities, Tritium Removal Facilities, and or similar nuclear Isotope separation systems for use in the power or medical industry.
- Exceptional communications skills, written and verbal, formal and informal, in small and large groups.
- Ability to understand technical and business processes quickly, with initiative for continuous personal learning/improvement.
- Ability to learn and understand technical and business processes quickly and take initiative for continuous improvement.
- Ability to independently prepare and clearly present information to multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strengths in advanced and complex conflict resolution, problem-solving, and change management
- High sense of personal accountability.
- Licensed Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO).
- Ability to obtain Security clearance (or eligibility) for nuclear site access will be required.
- Occasional travel to multiple locations (including Greater Toronto Area, Kincardine and/or Tiverton or overseas) may be required.
