About Us
Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
Cameco is looking for skilled safety professionals to join the Northern Saskatchewan operations. In this role, you work with other employees and contractors to issue work permits, conduct daily checks, collect workplace safety data, and identify safety improvement opportunities. You will be responsible for providing safety training, coaching and support for the operation, and ensure all safety equipment is in good working order.
In this role, you will:
- Test fire protection safety system equipment
- Conduct equipment calibrations
- Complete routine workface inspections
- Attend job hazard analyses (JHAs), evaluating the safety risks and controls
- Complete incident reporting, investigations, and supporting the development and implementation of corrective actions resulting from incident reviews
- Work as a team to foster a positive safety culture
Required:
- Diploma in occupational health and safety, or relevant technology
- Minimum of six months of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Experience conducting Job Hazard Analyses, and incident management
- Willing to work a 14-day rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Willingness to participate on the Emergency Response and/or Mine Rescue team
- Experience providing critical safety training programs
- Canadian registered safety professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation
- Advanced first aid certificate
- Qualified emergency response instructor
- Certified to perform fire extinguisher testing
