Rabbit Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, produced over 200 million pounds of uranium concentrate from 1975 through 2016 and is currently in a safe state of care and maintenance. The uranium mined and milled at Rabbit Lake has been used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
Reporting to and working with the Environment Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the operations environmental compliance program, including performing monitoring activities such as collecting, preparing and shipping water, air quality and other samples, data entry and processing, and report preparation. You will be required to conduct environmental site inspections and assist in wildlife management and monitoring activities and programs, as well as assist and support with emergency response during environmental events. You will assist in providing training and information to employees on environmental issues and environmental aspects of the operation. You will work extensively outdoors, throughout the year and must be capable and experienced in the safe operation of snowmobiles, utility/all-terrain vehicles, and light duty trucks.
The successful employee will also take on a role with the site Emergency Response & Mine Rescue Team. As a member of the team, you will support emergency response activities and will receive training in responding to both surface and underground fire and rescue situations. Participation will be subject to successful completion of medical testing.
Required:
- Environmental/radiation technician certificate or diploma
- Three to six years of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- Demonstrated field experience working in remote locations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Valid government issued drivers licence and experience operating ATVs, snowmobiles and motorized watercraft (Pleasure Craft Operator certificate required)
- Comfortable working in remote conditions and performing environmental field sampling activities year-round
Recommended:
- Emergency Response Team (ERT) and/or Mine Rescue Team (MRT) experience
- Valid firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
- Previous experience in basic equipment maintenance (snowmobile, outboard motor, all-terrain vehicle, ice auger, and chainsaw) and calibration of field instruments used in environmental sampling
