About the Opportunity
Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.
It is a bona fide job requirement to be eligible and authorized to travel to the U.S. on Westinghouse business, and such travel is subject to the rules and regulations of the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as compliance with all applicable U.S. export laws and regulations.
What will you do?
Responsible for management of a work group responsible for the design and implementation of the electrical systems; responsibilities include analysis, equipment selection, application of digital design processes, and integration of interdisciplinary design processes.
Your day to day:
- Provide oversite and direction to a distributed team of engineers and technologists primarily based in Canada with potential for international growth.
- Work with business development professionals to develop offers and oversee the execution of project deliverables.
- Recruit new talent for long term business needs including interns/co-ops and new hire engineers and technologists.
- Responsible for resources trained, qualified, and supporting the design and installation of electrical systems and equipment.
- Identify engineering priorities by assessing determining project objectives, execution time, and implementation costs.
- Ensure best practices, lessons learned, & improvement are realized in project performance and margins
- Prepare and implement training and development plans. Assist in developing next generation of engineers to ensure future WEC bench strength. Support development and mentoring of the team to aid in their technical development, project performance and work satisfaction.
- Provide management team information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing engineering data and trends.
- Engage with external customers, partners and WEC senior management as required.
What will you bring?
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent with military and/or business experience.
- Minimum 10 years of strong and progressively more responsible leadership experience required.
- Experience with Canadian nuclear quality standards and engineering change control processes is preferred
- Experience managing engineering teams is preferred
- Effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers and engineering groups.
- Ability to gather and analyze input, evaluate alternatives, and make effective decisions.
- Excellent team building skills with ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership qualities and abilities
