What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada’s first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
As a System Turnover Manager, you will be responsible for the development and management of the turnover processes for SSCs and buildings to the nuclear operator.
Working as a member of the Commissioning Project team you will support the business in defining the procedures and manage the team to carry out the system turnover during the different phases of the project. The role will require interaction with DNNP teams and external partners, to manage shared resources and interdependencies.
What You'll Do Here:
- Lead the development and the execution of system and buildings turnover processes.
- Plan, scope, and detail all turnover activities scheduled for DNNP.
- Proactively monitor progress against the plan and schedule, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
- Prepare and carry out plant walk-downs and on-plant work to support Installation and Commissioning activities.
- Implement the organization to manage safe, reliable and efficient transfer of responsibilities and ensure control of the configuration, compliance to the design and to all legal requirements.
- Plan and coordinate the Construction and Commissioning Completion Declaration reviews in collaboration with Construction, Commissioning and Operation entities.
- Identify and analyze punch items and follow-up the progress of their completion.
- Chair Construction Completion Declaration review.
- Prepare acceptance forms and reports and ensure sign-off obtained before carrying on the transfer of responsibility.
- Identify appropriate engineering standards and practices to be used for the transfer of system during different phases of the project.

What You Bring to the Table:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or equivalent appropriate professional qualification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Prior relevant experience acting as a manager on transfer process systems and equipment in new build nuclear project.
- Broad knowledge of nuclear industry consensus standards, processes, procedures and methods relevant to Construction, Commissioning and Operation areas with a full understanding of underlying principles.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize own workload against multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Ability to ensure minimum standards and fundamental process requirements are maintained when under pressure to deliver and ability to challenge others at all levels of the organization.
