MAJOR DUTIES:
The primary function of the Manager, HSE is to implement, lead, manage and support the ATS Industrial Automation health, safety and environmental programs for the Cambridge and Woodbridge locations, supporting the divisional and corporate HSE standards and legislation. This transformational leader will drive safety engagement and compliance and foster a best-in-class safety culture. This role will lead a small team of HSE professionals who will help execute the strategic initiatives and programs and support leaders and employees in the day-to-day business and overall preventing workplace injuries or incidents of our employees.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for driving success in accident prevention through implementation of Company programs to promote and improve Health & Safety.
- Provides expertise and leadership in anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/safety hazards and related compliance at the site
- Drives compliance with Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) training by working with departments for scheduling, external training, and provides internal training for ATS specific program requirements.
- Monitors and audits field related activities to ensure HSE programs are being adhered to
- Implement and administers standardized plant HSE processes to ensure compliance to applicable government regulations as well as and corporate standards
- Drives attainment of organizational goals through the elimination of environmental impacts, occupational injuries/illnesses, property damage and improvement of production efficiency as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUED):
- Analyzes injury/illness experience, identifying/tracking injury correlation, determining root causes, establishing corrective action measures; analyze environmental incidents, determine root causes, and ensures appropriate corrective actions are implemented and maintained
- Coordinates communication of HSE regulatory inspection activity with site leadership
- Participates in the development and continuous improvement of divisional and global HSE initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations and industry leading safety practices.
- Provides and maintains accurate statistical data, reports and analysis of injury trends to operations in support of divisional accident reduction goals.
- Reviews all accident investigation reports to ensure appropriate internal and external reporting is completed and followed-up within timeframes and participate in investigations where required.
- Ensures that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Post secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety related discipline. Professional HSE designation preferred but not required
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2+ years of people leadership experience
- Experienced in HSE project management and driving sustainable change through new or improved programs and initiatives
- Customer centric mindset with the demonstrated ability to drive safety engagement
- Experienced with Ontario/Canada regulatory framework and compliance
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to lead a team and manage multiple demands under tight timelines
Education:
