We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist - Training & Weld Lab to join our Cambridge, ON team!
Reporting to the Training Supervisor, Weld Lab, the Traning and Weld Lab Techncial Specialist assists with the execution of BWXT Training Programs which includes the Weld Lab Training and Testing Center, inclusive to hourly employees licensing and re-certification.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Supporting role in maintenance of Weld Training and Testing programs which includes witnessing, inspecting, creating and maintenance of Welder and Operator TSSA certifications as required for hourly, site support staff.
• Administer, oversee and evaluate Bend Testing results.
• Maintain Welder Performance Qualification Record (WPQR) or Welding Operator Performance Qualification Record (WOPQR).
• Supporting weld engineering.
• Assist with structure and maintenance of hourly employee Global Training System matrices.
• Active roll supporting the Training Committee. This includes development, review, evaluation and updating training standards.
• Evaluate and license hourly employees for Overhead crane.
• Supporting role ensuring hourly employees are trained and familiar with applicable Manufacturing Operation Procedures (MOP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) prior to reporting to their assigned shop.
• Review safety related Incident and Near Miss reports to determine training or process enhancements to prevent future incidents.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of five years of experience in leadership roles.
• Knowledge of ASME code section III and IX an asset.
• Knowledge of CSA Standard 47.1 an asset.
• Experience with the following Welding Processes required: SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW.
• Overhead crane training the trainer an asset.
• Mechanical Testing of Materials certificate an asset.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations and best practices including Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement teams an asset.
• Demonstrated ability in building and leading teams to drive improvement and reduce cost.
• A “Critical Thinker” who applies a “Quality” mindset to problem solving and decision making.
• Experience with delivering training to adults an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills in the English language.
• Excellent ability to read complex mechanical part drawings with tight tolerances.
• Proficiency using the Microsoft Suite of software, especially Excel.
The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[64,000]] and $[[88,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
