McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The Role
Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting survey tasks to support mine development, production activities, surface surveying projects, and concrete QA/QC. Additionally, you will assist with mine engineering data collection and instrumentation monitoring as needed. This role involves a dynamic mix of fieldwork (underground and surface) and office-based responsibilities, all of which must be performed with a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
In this role, you will:
- Collect and verify survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted in the field
- Accurately record data and properly file drawings and associated documents.
- Perform survey mark-ups based on approved designs/layouts in an accurate and efficient manner in support of activities in the mine such as development, production, freeze drilling and diamond drilling.
- Perform month-end surveys to capture development progress and issue the month-end survey report.
- Liaise with mine technical services and mine operations to coordinate field survey work, timeline requirements, priorities, and survey methodology.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, more efficient field processes and procedures, and the innovative use of new technology.
- Prepare and update relevant standard procedures and work instructions as required.
- Work independently, communicate effectively with coworkers to plan work, and provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship within the mine technician group.
- Conduct concrete QA/QC including concrete cylinder breaks/slump testing etc. and perform field duties to support mine engineering data collection and instrumentation monitoring efforts.
Required:
- Technical certificate or diploma in mining or related field
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in underground mine surveying
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Full proficiency working with survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations
- Experience performing and processing stope and cavity laser scans
- Proficient in MS Office and experience with 3D drafting software such as Deswik/Vulcan/AutoCAD
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Experience in underground mining and/or uranium mining

The McArthur River operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
