McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The Role
Reporting to the senior coordinator, SHEQ (Safety Health Environment Quality), you will be responsible for the coordination of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program (EPRP). This includes ensuring that our regulatory commitments are maintained, specifically compliance with the CSA N393-13 standard with respect to fire protection at nuclear facilities.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain annual training and drill plans for ERT/MRT members, ensuring that regulatory and minimum requirements for volunteers are met.
- Coordinate contractors for the certification and testing, of site emergency response equipment and emergency response PPE.
- Participate in the planning, development and management of the EPRP budget.
- Coordinate and mentor the emergency response safety officers and provide training coverage as required.
- Engage stakeholders to ensure program consistency.Support the safety program and provide oversight of external initial event reporting when required.
Required:
- Valid Saskatchewan certificate of competency in Mine Rescue Instruction and as a Mine Rescue Worker
- Hazardous Materials Certification (NFPA 1072)
- Industrial Firefighting Certification (NFPA 1081)
- Five or more years of experience in emergency response and rescue, in a mining environment
- Extensive knowledge of fire protection, industrial firefighting, mine rescue, and wildland firefighting
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Fire Service Instructor Certification (NFPA 1041)
- Technical Rescue Certification (NFPA 1006)
- Previous supervisory and coaching roles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including external regulatory communication
- Experience with SAP software
