Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
As a member of the site SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) department at Cigar Lake, you will work with various stakeholders to keep risks low and improvements continuous. You will support completing event investigations, managing timely completion of corrective actions, document development and revisions, and coordinate with teams at other work locations to find opportunities for standardization and cooperation.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, implement and maintain the Cameco Incident Reporting System (CIRS), the Management Document System (MDS), and the Management of Change (SAP-MOC) module and basic cause investigations
- Identify and lead improvement initiatives
- Provide training and subject matter expertise on quality related programs and systems
- Participate in site audit planning
- Participate in risk assessment and reviews for the site
- Prepare injury statistics reports Manage SHEQ administrative records
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, business or a quality systems related field
- Experience in programming, development and application of databases and their reporting tools such as Web Intelligence and Power BI
- Three to eight years of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Trained on business management systems
- Auditor or lead auditor training in ISO 9001 or ISO 14001
- Root Cause and/or Apparent Cause Investigation training
- Background in quality, project and risk management

Safety Sensitive Site

The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
