Engineering Manager - Multidisciplinary

The Engineering Manager is a member of the Engineering Team responsible of leading a multidisciplinary team of I&C, Electrical and Computer Engineers and designers engaged in design activities such as specifications, procurement, verification and. The Technical Manager oversees the execution of design and technical activities in a project delivery environment in accordance with industry standards and established governance. The Technical Manager will report functionally to the Director, Mechanical, Process, Civil & ICE and to Program Manager in the project delivery group.

Your role within the team:
- Managing the design process from concept to preliminary to detailed design.
- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Coordinating and oversight of computer design activities related to the completion of fundamental design for a nuclear power plant.
- Coordinating the design interface between the NSP and balance of plant (BOP) portions of a nuclear power plant.
- Working with assigned staff to find optimal solutions to project challenges.
- Working with assigned staff to develop /modify design changes to Nuclear SSC.
- Providing technical guidance to staff, as appropriate.
- Ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, and in accordance with the contract, applicable specifications, and technical requirements.
- Interfacing with stakeholders, including Engineering peers, Modelling, Procurement, Construction representatives, and prospective equipment and/or system vendors, to ensure system designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and that the resulting designs are constructable, operable, and maintainable.
- Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
- Approving engineering documents and deliverables.
- Collaborating with clients and overseeing the completion of engineering deliverables in accordance with the signed contract, approved customer specifications, and technical requirements.
- Managing interfaces between engineering discipline.
- Removing barriers that could impact safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
- Participating in the preparation of commercial proposals and approving the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
- Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including required skills, capabilities, and durations.
- Working with marketing and other business groups to maintain and improve client relationships and offerings.
- Preparing and leading Engineering proposals.
- The Technical Manager will oversee the work of Engineering team on multiple projects. Supervisory responsibilities include:

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field from an accredited University.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with good standing.
- 10-15 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
- 5 or more years of experience in leading engineering teams.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams.
- Experience in nuclear and/or CANDU technology modifications.
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada.
- Experience in Computer System Architecture and software code for CANDU simulator, DCC, Safety Systems, Fuel Handling System, Distribution Control System and Cyber Security is an asset.
- Experience with cyber security for Operational Technology for Safety System Computers is an asset.
- Experience and capability in regulatory communications in a regulated industry is an asset.
- Experience with cyber security for Operational Technology for Safety System Computers is an asset.
- Experience in managing multiple small to mid-size Engineering projects in an operating station.
- Experience delivering an overall plant control system design of a power production facility.
- Experience in interfacing with utilities for brown field modification to SSC.
- Knowledge in OPG and Bruce Power ECC process and Data Management System.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
- Knowledge of Quality Management System (CSA N286), quality standards (CSA N299) and digital hardware standard (CSA 290.14).
- Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA and IEC standards pertaining to Electrical, I&C and Computer Engineering.
- Working knowledge of nuclear and industry codes and standards in their core engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of station modification procedures for OPG and Bruce Power.
- Working knowledge of the nuclear regulatory framework.
- Commercial acumen, with knowledge in procurement, contracts, supply chain, and/or logistics.
- Station operations and/or station maintenance experience in a plant controls faculty is an asset.
- Proven track record of performance in a multidiscipline, dynamic, project delivery environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, and project management skills.

- Willing to travel to and potentially work at sites to meet business needs, inclusive of project (construction) site and equipment / component suppliers. (Note: the main work location will be our Mississauga campus, based on a combination of project requirements and employee preference).
