What is the Opportunity?
Working with our joint venture partner Atkins Realis, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded the definition phase contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to assist in planning the Pickering Retube, Feeder and Boiler replacement (RFBR) project. This project involves the refurbishment of four reactors and replacement of the forty eight steam generators at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station.
Reporting to the Communications Specialist, the Communications Coordinator Co-op is responsible for effective project communications throughout projects. The Communications Coordinator Co-op will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to increase our effectiveness in project communications and sustain the benefits that are implemented. This position is an 8 month co-op term.
What You'll Do Here:
- Assist in preparing, editing and distributing CanAtom Daily Briefs
- Assist in creating project videos, photo stories and graphic design requests
- Assist in maintaining relevance on the CanAtom Intranet (i.e. website)
- Support in ordering of project swag for milestone celebrations
- Act as the backup for CanAtom’s performance recognition program (PROPs)
- Creating monthly summaries
- Prepare and send billing information
- Track inventory
- Top PROPs
- Prepare, edit and distribute CanAtom Communications (Memorandums, Daily Crew Briefs, etc. Project Milestones, Safety Messages etc.)
- Maintain a cohesive CanAtom Brand identity
- Create Project Videos and Photo Stories to celebrate key milestones
- Interface personally with the project team at all levels to identify business/project needs with a continuous improvement outlook
- Organize and execute logistics for CanAtom events
- Organize and support in ordering of project swag for milestone celebrations
- Support CanAtom Culture Change Initiatives to encourage employee engagement and retention.
- Act as the backup for CanAtom’s performance recognition program (PROPs) in consultation with stakeholders
- Interface with the client and project partners to support development of internal messaging and framework that enables effective cross-team communication and alignment
What You Bring To The Team:
- Currently enrolled in (or recently completed) a communications program or related discipline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Multimedia skills ( design, audio/ video)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience in Business, Communications or Public Relations
- Highly motivated team player with leadership skills
- Experience in construction, building systems and terminology an asset
- Strong client service/management, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner
- Problem solving, planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work to timelines
- Proficient computer skills using MS Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/MS Teams/Adobe)
- Capable of obtaining security clearance at OPG
- Various work location in both field and office
- Travel as necessary
