We are looking for a Project Coordinator (14 Month Contract with Benefits) for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Manager has ultimate accountability for their assigned projects (budget, schedule, and overall customer satisfaction); and to ensure the company’s resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution. The Project Manager will lead projects with influence, and execute control over budgets, schedules and non-technical communication. This position leads internal teams and reports to the Project Management Organization Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the successful execution of assigned contracts through the delegation of specific projects tasks by the project manager.
- Support the routine and periodic flow of data in support necessary project and portfolio reporting and analysis.
- Support and delegated responsibility for maintenance of the project schedule and register, while leveraging project team support.
- Support and delegated responsibility for accurate and timely publication of project reports as defined in the contract.
- Support ensuring resources (human and other) are properly assigned for satisfactory contract execution.
- Support coordination for execution of planned activities.
- Support ensuring baselines are maintained, such that project performance data integrity is preserved.
- Support sub-contracting administration.
- Support contract execution within the organization’s governance and compliant with departmental procedures.
- Support the continuous improvement of the department’s governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
- Support maintenance of governance, procedures, tools, and best practices to be employed by Project Management Organization.
- Support auditing of established governance, procedures, tools, and best practices through routine and periodic checks, tests, interviews, etc.
- Support reporting on compliance to and deviations from established governance, procedures, tools, and best practices.
- Support project and change initiation activities in collaboration with the Project Managers.
- Support ensuring integrity of project and portfolio data across the various systems (scheduling, ERP, other databases, etc.).
- Support and in some cases deputize Project Managers as mutually agreed to in appropriate circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of post-secondary education in a field like, engineering, mathematics, or business.
- Demonstratable understanding of scheduling practices and concepts.
- Demonstratable understanding of project management fundamentals like, scheduling, earned- value management, budget controls, and change management.
- Demonstratable strength in organizing, and presenting large and diverse data sets.
- Demonstratable experience with visual analytic software.
- Professional competency of English, in written and verbal forms.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
- 5 years of related industry experience;
- Experience in the nuclear energy production industry;
- High level of competency with Oracle Primavera P6;
- High level of competency with Microsoft Excel;
- Project Management Professional certification.
The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $63,000.00 and $98,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
