The Role: Join Our Team as a Strategic HR Partner: We are seeking a seasoned Senior Human Resources Business Partner to join our team at our Brampton location, the hub of our Robotics and Space Operations (RSO), and support our Kanata location. As a trusted advisor to our business leaders, you will leverage your exceptional relationship-building, strategic thinking and results-orientation skills to drive business outcomes and deliver tailored people solutions that enable our organization to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. In this critical role, you will partner closely with business area leadership, union leadership and the HR teams to navigate complex people-related challenges, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, and drive strategic initiatives that propel our business forward.
Job Responsibilities:
- Proactively identifying people and talent management needs of the client group and provide both operational and consultative HR guidance and support
- Collaborate and work proactively with business leaders to identify key issues impacting operational goals, and offer strategic solutions
- Developing and implementing strategies to support the unique needs of a high-tech engineering population
- Provide expert guidance and assistance to managers on a wide range of human resource issues, including employee & labour relations, conflict resolution, performance and compensation management, employee retention and engagement, workplace accommodations, and employment legislation, HR policies and people programs
- Collaborate closely with MDA’s HR team on new initiatives, process implementation and leverage team expertise in planning and delivering functional initiatives to respective client group
- Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, with the ability to shift between strategic, operational, and tactical levels
- Communicate, facilitate, and/or present talent programs and rollouts at the business area level and work with leaders to develop and retain talent
- Actively participate in HR enterprise initiatives, such as development of new human resources talent programs for the organization as a whole
- Lead change management initiatives to support business transformation, including communicating, training and monitoring changes and providing coaching to leaders
- Analyze HR data and metrics to inform business decisions, identify trends, and measure the impact of HR initiatives
- Building and maintaining a positive and productive relationship with union leadership and representatives
- Developing and implementing strategies to promote positive labour relations, including joint union-management committees and employee engagement initiatives
- Interpreting and ensuring compliance with collective agreements, labour laws, and regulations, providing guidance and support to managers on application and interpretation
- Liaising with union representatives, managing and resolving labour relations issues, including grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining
- Manage through ambiguity, uncertainty, and changing priorities, while maintaining a solution-oriented approach
- Provide responsive and timely support to business leaders and employees, ensuring that HR services are delivered in a timely and effective manner
- Staying up to date with industry trends and best practices
- Travel to the Kanata location on a regular cadence to meet with managers and employees to support their HR and talent needs
- Collaborating with other HR functions to ensure integrated HR services
Candidate Profile:
- A seasoned human resources professional with 7-10 years of related business partnering experience
- Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, CHRL certification or equivalent
- Experience in labour relations, including liaisons with union representatives, managing grievances, and interpreting collective agreements is an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust with business leaders, HR peers and employees
- Experience with change management, including developing and implementing change management plans, communicating changes to employees, and providing coaching to leaders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze HR data and metrics to inform business decisions
- Experience supporting high tech manufacturing and/or engineering roles is an asset
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand business objectives and develop HR strategies to support them
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Proficient in using HR Analytics to make informed decisions and be able to measure impact (proficient in MS Office tools)
- Strong understanding of applicable employment and human rights legislation in Ontario
- Proven skills in coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, risk management, and relationship management
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Effective and persuasive oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

The compensation range for this position is $100,000-120,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
