The Project Engineering Coordinator will join the Engineering Management practice within the Technical Professional Organization (TPO) of Engineering Services Canada. The Project Engineering coordinator will play a support role in the delivery of Engineering Services on large and complex projects (generally Class 3, 4 & 5 projects ranging from $1M to > $20M) while also supporting the growth of the Engineering Management practice.
Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Engineering Management practice, the Project Engineering Coordinator will be assigned to support the Project Engineering Manager on large, multi-disciplinary transit projects from the design phase to completion. The role involves contributing to the development of engineering strategies, coordinating design deliverables, and ensuring alignment across technical disciplines and stakeholders.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including Project Delivery, Technical TPO, and external stakeholders—to facilitate the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that meet client expectations. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a solid foundation in engineering principles, and experience supporting complex infrastructure projects.
Your role within the team:
- Engineering Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with Project Engineering Manager to define project goals, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client requirements and overall business objectives.
- Assist the Project Engineering Manager in overseeing all the Project Coordinators (Package, BIM, Change, Permit, Environmental, etc.)
- Support the engineering project lifecycle by tracking design progress, identifying risks, and facilitating resolution of technical issues.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the Project Design Execution Plan, ensuring effective interdisciplinary coordination.
- Assist in the identification and mitigation of risks and resolve any issues or bottlenecks that may impact project timelines or quality.
- Promote and reinforce safety considerations throughout technical delivery and design coordination.
- Ensure internal and external scope, schedule, deliverables, and obligations are clearly understood, documented, and tracked.
- Support the preparation of monthly project reports to the Engineering Management Director and relevant Market or Portfolio Leads.
- Technical Expertise and Quality Assurance:
- Support the engineering team by facilitating the application of industry best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Assist in promoting innovation and efficiency across design activities by identifying opportunities for process optimization and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate and participate in regular reviews and quality assessments of engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Help foster a Value Engineering culture throughout the project lifecycle by supporting cost-effective and performance-driven design decisions.
- Maintain awareness of in-scope deliverables, monitor changes, and support change management processes in collaboration with project and technical leads.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project success.
- Engage in effective communication, providing regular engineering updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations to foster strong client relationships.
- Actively participate in meetings, presentations, and technical discussions, representing the engineering team and providing expert insights and recommendations.

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, with 5–8 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years supporting multi-disciplinary teams through planning, design, and delivery phases.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Canada, and eligible for registration in multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to support and unify teams toward shared project goals.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks, managing resources, and supporting delivery within budget and schedule.
- Proficient in engineering software and tools relevant to transit infrastructure design.
- Experience in rail & transit projects, particularly LRT, with knowledge of transit standards and urban integration is an asset.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments and stakeholder coordination across municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences (both French and English are an asset).
- Bilingual: English French (*).
- (*) If you are in the province of Quebec, knowledge of both French and English is required. Since this role involves interacting with stakeholders and organizations across Canada and internationally, knowledge of English is required.
