The available positions can be based out of our offices in Mississauga.
These positions are for student co-ops. Functionally reporting to the engineering division, the student will be assigned to support various engineering projects as well as support engineering functional and project management on as needed basis.
The role will provide the student with learning opportunities on technical, engineering interfaces and management aspects in the nuclear industry through training, mentoring and on-the-job experiences. All duties will be carried out under close supervision of a Senior Engineer or Technical Lead. Assigned tasks may include the following:
How will you contribute to the team?
- Assist engineers and discipline leads with day-to-day tasks and contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases for CANDU and other nuclear electrical systems under the supervision of a P.Eng.
- Support the development of electrical engineering deliverables for nuclear and conventional systems, ensuring alignment with AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams and project sectors (e.g., Document Control, Project Management, field teams) to coordinate assigned tasks and facilitate document reviews and RFI responses.
- Attend technical and coordination meetings as needed, and contribute to a collaborative, open-minded, and positive team environment.
Ideal Candidate?
- Solid foundation in engineering, physics, and mathematics with the ability to apply principles to practical problem-solving. Basic knowledge of analytical and design tools such as MATLAB, ETAP, and MathCAD.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Prior experience in the nuclear industry is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve engineering issues using fundamental technical knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing. Proven ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills. Thrives in dynamic, multidisciplinary, and team-oriented environments.
- Currently enrolled in Electrical engineering/Engineering Science/Math Program with an accredited Canadian University.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance is mandatory.
