Senior Category Manager

Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the Senior Category Manager is accountable to lead the Category Management function within the Nuclear Supply Chain group. They will be required to lead a team of experienced Category Managers and Category Buyers in support of Nuclear Projects & Services. The Senior Category Manager is responsible for >$5bn/ per reactor worth of procurement over multi-year projects in the following categories.
Categories:
- Large Nuclear Components: Turbine, Steam Generators, Fuelling Machine, Degasser Cooler.
- Reactor Components: Calandria, Calandria Tubes, Pressure Tubes, End Fitting, Feeders (Heat Transport System).
- Other: Tanks & Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Cranes, Doors & Seals, Pumps, Valves, Motors, Pipe& Fittings, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control.
Your role within the team:
- Category Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with project goals and procurement best practices.
- Conduct market research and spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and value creation.
- Carry out category mapping exercises to identify opportunities and risks.
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes including RFP, supplier evaluation, and selection.
- Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with suppliers to ensure favorable outcomes.
- Manage supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviews.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure alignment with category strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business units on procurement-related matters.
- Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks within assigned categories.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the category.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategy.
- Financial Accountabilities:
- Monitor financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Support the project and / or business cash management strategy.
- Manage category savings budget.
- Ensure full compliance to agreements.
- Deliver individual savings plans and specific savings targets as agreed.
- Identify ways to reduce costs and improve service.

The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (MBA or professional certification such as SCMP is an asset).
- 15 years of experience in category management, in a complex or matrixed organization.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and supply chain management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba, Oracle, other) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with managing similar category markets to those listed above.
- Experience in equivalent industries to the nuclear sector that operate to a high level of quality assurance standards i.e. defense, aerospace, oil & gas etc.
