McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.
The Role
Cameco is looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our geology team on a permanent basis at our McArthur River operation located in northern Saskatchewan.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for diamond core logging, underground diamond drilling, and underground development mapping, designing, and monitoring.
- Support the data management, data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and radiometric probing/scanning.
- Assist with geological and resource modelling and estimations, weekly production reporting, and implementing innovation.
- Perform light field tasks such as sample collection and equipment handling.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology or equivalent
- Minimum of five years of relevant geological experience
- An equivalent combination of work experience and education would be considered
- Eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Ability and willingness to work in physically active environments, including walking on uneven terrain on surface and underground, standing for extended periods, and performing light field tasks
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Safety-oriented work attitude
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Previous work experience with uranium-specific stope reserve modelling, radiometric probing of blast holes, and production reconciliations
- Experience working in an underground work environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Working knowledge of geological database and mining software, such as AcQuire, Vulcan and/or Leapfrog
