Overview
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer with specialized expertise in Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) to support the planning, design, and delivery of Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects across Canada. This role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the successful execution of OCS components within complex transit infrastructure programs.
Your role
- Lead the design and engineering of OCS systems for LRT projects, including alignment with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.
- Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and calculations for OCS components (e.g., poles, cantilevers, tensioning systems, feeders).
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and risk evaluations related to OCS installations.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian standards, including AREMA, CSA, and applicable provincial regulations.
- Support construction and commissioning phases, including field inspections and resolving technical issues.
- Participate in tender evaluations, contractor coordination, and change management processes.
About you
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- P.Eng. designation in a Canadian province (or eligibility to obtain).
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in railway electrification, with a focus on OCS design and implementation.
- Experience working on major transit infrastructure projects in Canada is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in OCS design software.
- Strong understanding of railway safety standards, construction practices, and project delivery methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
