McArthur River, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at McArthur River is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.
The Role
Working with the process team and reporting to the site senior metallurgist, you will be responsible for analyzing samples and following quality control and quality assurance procedures. If you like working as part of a team where we look out for one another and collaborate to strive for excellence, then we may have a student opportunity for you.
In this role, you will:
- Assist with improvement projects such as metallurgical test work, process control improvements, and operational data collection analysis.
- Support daily operational data analysis and metallurgical accounting.
- Be a part of fostering innovations within the operations and technical teams to improve operational performance.
- Work closely with process operators, supervisors and metallurgists to support process operations, process troubleshooting and lab/field studies.
Required:
- You will be entering your third or fourth year as a university student in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, computer engineering, or a related science
- Effective communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate resolute attitude towards safety
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- You must be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco
- Work underground as required
Recommended:
- Familiar with PI Asset Framework & PI Vision
- Experience with writing Python code
- Previous experience with managing small projects
- Knowledge using time series data analysis and interpretation
- Previous experience working in an industrial environment
Conditions of Employment:
- pre-employment substance test; and
- class 5 driver’s licence.
