Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
As the superintendent, maintenance, you are responsible for providing leadership to the maintenance team to ensure they are working effectively with other departments to achieve Cameco’s goals and directives. You will sponsor and lead asset management and reliability efforts for the site, and work with your team to make improvements as opportunities are identified. You will coach and develop a team of problem solvers and provide mentorship and development of employees with a focus on a safe and inclusive culture.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee execution of maintenance to meet operational targets, including leading the maintenance trades, planning and warehousing teams. Ensuring engineering teams are integrated for efficient delivery.
- Lead operational reliability activities at site, monitoring KPI’s and process adherence to determine areas of focus. Sponsoring initiatives to advance operations reliability maturity and deliver on the master plan.
- Develop annual budgets, monitor and forecast changes, and provide strategic directions to the department.
- Initiate and sponsor projects required for replacement and improvement initiatives, while working with the Technical Services delivery team and site stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Develop, coach and mentor team, while acting as a site senior, and member of the site leadership team. Engaging in stie management activities and providing general leadership for all of site.
Required:
- bachelor’s degree in related engineering field (process, chemical, mechanical, metallurgical) or trade certification;
- 12+ years of relevant experience in progressive leadership roles leading maintenance teams (engineering, trades, warehouse, or planning) in an industrial setting, including implementation of best-practice reliability processes;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
- proven leadership skills with consistent focus on safety and continuous improvement; and
- work an irregular schedule, Monday to Thursday, and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
- P. Eng, CMRP, MMP, lean training;
- familiarity with operational reliability, Lean and/or Six-Sigma;
- previous site or other operation experience with similar equipment or methods;
- familiar with plant automation and digital technology; and
- previous uranium mining/processing experience.
