About Us
Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future. The Role
Reporting to the chief metallurgist, you will be responsible for delivering process engineering support for strategic initiatives, sustaining capital projects, and ongoing operations at Cameco. This position is based in Saskatoon and will involve periodic travel to remote operating sites.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct technical evaluations of process applications.
- Plan, execute, and interpret operational test work and data analyses.
- Develop mass balances, process flow diagrams, and process design criteria.
- Prepare economic evaluations to support informed decision‑making.
- Proactively identify and advance process improvement opportunities that enhance safety, performance, and value.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Cameco’s mining, milling, and fuel services operations.
- Coordinate and participate in process risk reviews and assessments.
Required:
- bachelor’s degree in chemical, metallurgical, mineral processing, or related engineering field;
- five to eight years of experience in chemical processes with preference to hydrometallurgical and mine/mill effluent treatment systems involving grinding, leaching, thickening, solvent extraction, crystallization, and lime neutralization;
- effective communication and analytical skills;
- high regard and positive attitude towards safety;
- eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS); and
- travel to site by aircraft as needed.
Recommended:
- a combination of experience in plant operations, continuous improvement leadership, and/or consulting experience executing process engineering deliverables;
- proficiency with AVEVA PI System or comparable process data analytics and visualization tools ;
- working knowledge of SysCAD or similar process modelling software;
- demonstrated capability in planning, executing, and supporting bench‑ and pilot‑scale process test work; and
- ability to review and support updates to process control philosophy aligned with project objectives.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000*
