Overview
The Project Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and successful execution of assigned project scopes within CANDU. This role ensures all work meets organizational expectations for safety, quality, cost control, schedule adherence, resource planning, and client satisfaction. Operating within construction management and maintenance environments, the Project Analyst supports delivery excellence across all project activities.
The position also encompasses in‑house commercial renovation and design‑build work, including coordination of key utilities such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, furniture fit‑outs, security systems, and fire detection and fire protection systems. This includes significant involvement in campus renovation projects, office fit‑outs, design and layout development, hosting coordination meetings, and working directly with contractors and service providers.
Your role
- Develop and maintain resource plans, ensuring staffing requirements are proactively identified and addressed to support project execution.
- Ensure all project activities comply with applicable quality program requirements, industry standards, and internal procedures.
- Monitor, guide, and mentor project resources, providing support to ensure assigned scope is executed effectively and efficiently.
- Interface with key stakeholders, including Project Controls, Procurement, and Accounting, to support project planning, cost tracking, forecasting, and procurement activities.
- Provide supervisory guidance to project personnel, supporting day‑to‑day task coordination, issue escalation, and resolution.
- Ensure all team members are appropriately trained and competent for the functions they are required to perform, coordinating with training and leadership teams as needed.
- Reinforce and promote a strong nuclear safety culture, ensuring safety expectations and behaviours are consistently upheld across all project activities.
About you
- University Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Science, Business Management or Architectural Science.
- 5+ Years of Relevant Experience.
- Previous Construction Management experience preferred.
- Experience supporting a variety of project types, including construction, manufacturing, or engineering services, is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the following areas:
- Stakeholder Management.
- Creating Processes & Procedures.
- An understanding of Quality Assurance Programs and their importance within the nuclear industry is an asset.
- Fluency in additional languages, particularly Korean, Mandarin, Romanian, Spanish, or French, will be considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and client‑relationship skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats.
- Willingness to work in both field and office environments.
- Ability to work autonomously.
