Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining BC Instruments’ Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100D, and applicable nuclear standards. This role provides leadership to quality control and inspection teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages internal and external audits, and serves as the primary quality interface with customers, suppliers, and senior management.

Job Requirements:
Quality Management & Compliance
- Own and maintain the ISO 9001 and AS9100D Quality Management Systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute internal and external audits (certification, customer, and supplier).
- Ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards, including CSA N285.0 and CSA N299.2.
- Develop, review, and approve quality procedures, work instructions, and policies.
- Oversee company‑wide calibration and metrology programs, ensuring all measurement equipment meets regulatory and customer requirements.
- Document Control capability including revision control of all company documents and Controlled Forms
- Assist in Strategic Planning
- Strong Change Management Skills and Cross-Functional Skills
Audits, Corrective Actions & Reporting
- Lead and manage CAPAs, CARs, SCARs, and 8D problem‑solving activities.
- Perform root cause analysis and track corrective actions to closure and effectiveness.
- Prepare and present high‑level management review meetings, including KPIs and compliance status.
- Manage EcoVadis assessments and sustainability‑related quality reporting.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Mentor, coach, and develop Quality Control and Inspection personnel.
- Promote and implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
- Foster a quality‑driven culture focused on prevention, accountability, and operational excellence.
Customer & Supplier Interface
- Coordinate and lead customer and supplier quality visits and audits.
- Act as the primary point of contact for quality‑related customer inquiries and issues.
- Support supplier qualification, monitoring, and performance improvement initiatives.
Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance related to CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operations and inspection methodologies.
- Ensure inspection, measurement, and verification activities align with customer drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Gauge R&R Studies, Capability Studies, and Creation and maintenance of Control Plans
- Knowledge of SPC
- Skilled in MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Perform other duties as assigned
Must have reliable personal transportation for travel between plants as well as to suppliers and customers (no public transportation available).
This role requires superior fluency in English (read, write, speak and present) with 5+ years’ progressive quality experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment (aerospace, nuclear, or similarly regulated industry preferred). Lead Auditor (ISO 9001 / AS9100) and Lean, Six Sigma, or similar certification preferred. EcoVadis or comparable quality framework experience an asset. Must have proficiency with engineering drawings, GD&T, and mechanical measurements and be available for Early Shifts.
