In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Engineering Training Section is currently hiring for a Technical Officer.
As a member of a dynamic learning team, the Technical Officer will fill a variety of training-related positions to support the administration of the training organization.

This is a term position which may be for a period of up to 60 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
Managing the continuous review and update of training courses to reflect changing technology, personnel development requirements, design changes, operating experience and new developments in the field. Developing and maintaining course materials to support training deliveries. Providing project management support to training projects. Managing staff qualifications and training/development plans. Supervising units responsible for delivery and development of training and managing implementation of the processes these units support.
Creating and maintaining reports to support continuous training process improvement. Producing standard reports as required by the Training Manager. Managing and maintaining governing documentation that defines Bruce Power training processes. Providing training process advice to users of training processes. Interface with the Business Services department on records and documentation standards. Providing performance consulting to line managers by identifying specific performance gaps and then diagnosing those gaps to determine root causes and impacts to training.
Administering training programs and coordinating course presentations, demonstrations, and lectures. Planning, organizing and allocating training assignments to training staff and provide guidance and direction as required. Assisting staff in the preparation of material for presentations. Delivering courses as required. Overseeing the process for evaluation of trainees and maintenance of records of trainee results. Managing training program-related data in the Training Information Management System.
Conducting audits and assessments of training programs. Recommending to relevant Training Program Review Committees revisions to training programs resulting from changes in design/operation of Bruce Power facilities, audits/assessments, or operating experience. Being aware of outside training courses and programs with a view to improving training-centered programs. Conducting assessments of process effectiveness, documenting deficiencies, proposing changes and recommending priorities.
Being familiar with the processes governing changes to courses and qualifications. Reviewing qualification structures and facilitating training reviews of same. Monitoring, issuing and reviewing Training Change Requests. Conducting Training Needs Analyses and preparation and execution of DIF rating exercises, task and job analyses, and recording these within a learning management system. Providing training support for internal and external audits or investigations.
Performing other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of the ADDIE process and the Systematic Approach to Training
Experience with learning management systems or training-related platforms, applications and software
Knowledge of nuclear power generation fundamentals
Skills related to the design, development and delivery of in-person or online training
Exceptional time management and organization skills
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Project management and prioritization in a dynamic time-sensitive environment
Education and Experience
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired in a four (4) year University degree in a related field.
A period of over 6 years up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience
